Group 1: 12/6
This week has not been that eventful as we just put out the application via email. Fliers are in process as we have the logo completed, but it seems like not many students have really contemplated submitting anything for our awesome $1000 give away! Any ideas on how to push for more applications would be much appreciated. Our group has somewhat discussed entering other classes during B & E periods and reminding people who could be interested about the project so they can meet the deadline and understand more in depth. I think we just need some sort of factor that would motivate students to be creative and help their community. Maybe we could find some other sort of small but worthwhile prize to be rewarded to the winning recipient.

The prize is the 1000 dollars. To give another prize to get people to apply is taking away from the individuals care for the project itself. We just need to be more forceful with delivering the apps. I put a box next to the printers in the haaga house. Giving them the apps by hand I think will help tremendously.
ReplyDeleteUPDATE: APPLICATIONS ARE COMING IN *sort of*
ReplyDeleteGROUP ONE: WE NEED YOUR HELP TELLING PEOPLE THAT THIS ISN'T A DONATION-TYPE THING! 3/4 "LEGIT" APPS THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED HAVE BEEN BASED ON DONATING THE MONEY (IN SOME FORM) TO PREEXISTING ORGANIZATIONS AND THAT'S NOT THE POINT! Sorry for the caps it was like that and I kinda just went with it. Honestly the announcements/hard copy applications today helped a lot, we just have to make sure that people are aware that they have to be creating something on their own and not just contributing to something that already exists.
I think if we mention in the classes that we go and talk to that it is not a donation type of project would solve this issue. I think being able to go to classes and personally explain the project will be helpful and will help clarify.
DeleteWe can really see the direct correlation with candid and well thought out marketing and how many applications we are receiving. While a feasible goal is around 10 apps, if we managed to continue with this trend we will most certainly increase our spread and reach.
