For group one our main job is to adversities the Awesome Project to the Poly Community. We have taken the steps to tell our advisee groups, but I think we need to take it a step further. As we discussed in class a lot of people in the Poly Community were confused by the project. I think one way to clear the air is to create an informational/creative video to advertise the project. We can also talk about it in Morning meeting and have Ms. Williams send it out in the Student Bulletin as well. In addition, I suggested to Group one of making a logo for the Awesome Project. This way we will have something to represent the project itself in a more artistic and unique way instead of just posting, "The Awesome Project".
The other goal of Group one is to create the application and the criteria itself. Like I said in class on friday, I think that group one should create an outline of the application (hopefully tomorrow in class) and then present it to the class as a whole. If you guys have an suggestions as to what the application should have please leave a comment.
Also if you guys have any suggestions on how we can spread the word around the Poly community please let us know!
As far as suggestions, I think Brenda's post for Group 2 contains a lot of our ideas for the content of the application(s). Tomorrow in class I think we have to first agree on whether or not having two developments to the app is a good idea. We should definitely have the promo video ready for the Mon or Weds of the week after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a logo. I think that is a smart idea to keep people thinking about the awesome foundation once they've already been told what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteI would love to take part in making the logo if possible!
If you guys don't think that making a logo is a good idea, you can always hire someone on Fiverr for only five bucks! I also was wondering if you guys could advertize some of the media coverage that Group 3 will be getting for the project so that people will have even more incentive to apply and get even more excited.
ReplyDeleteI think social media would be very effective in advertising to the community as well. Maybe someone in the group can post on Facebook a description of the project and attach a link to the application to make sure it's really out there.
ReplyDeleteBrenda's facebook idea is great, another way to execute this is by creating a facebook event that ends on the due date, and invite all poly students to it. This way facebook automatically reminds them, as facebook is one of the more used social media platforms used on campus.
ReplyDeleteI think that week or so while apps are out and when they are due needs to be FILLED with advertising; whether the advertising be in morning meeting or advisory bulletins, etc. it also needs to be interesting and different from all the other stuff said in the morning meeting, as I too am a culprit of this, students tend to zone out and talk to friends. I think short 6 second to 1 min videos would be the most attention grabbing, the easiest to do, and a good way of keeping students from zoning out before making an announcement.
ReplyDeleteHave each of you guys chosen a social media outlet to take ownership of? Dividing it up so that each of you runs an account (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) might be a good way to cover as much ground as possible. I think constant announcements in morning meeting, advisee, or wherever else you can let people know about would be helpful; we shouldn't be afraid of being annoying or too involved on campus.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely important to use a wide range of social media options, but avoid spamming or causing annoyance among people. We all know what it's like to get a ton of Facebook notifications or emails, so we have to focus on being reasonable in advertising. What I'm saying is that there is defietly a sweet spot to look for in terms of raw amount of marketing.
